Why did you decide at a certain point to cut some categories, such as bag and apparel showcases, and focus on jewelry, perfume, and museum showcases?
Around the early 2010s, we began to reflect: why are we making these showcases? We realized that showcases for bags and apparel were highly competitive, dominated by price wars, while our pursuit has always been exquisite craftsmanship and quality. Spreading ourselves across too many categories only diluted our strengths.
So we made a bold decision—“subtraction.” We decisively gave up certain categories and focused entirely on high-end jewelry, perfume, and museum showcases. These three fields demand nearly obsessive precision in craftsmanship, lighting, security, and climate control, but they also best reflect our dedication to craft.
After focusing, we could invest in patented lighting systems, eco-friendly materials, intelligent security, and international standards compliance, turning each showcase from a mere display tool into a true work of art.
Jewelry, perfume, and museum showcases demand extremely high standards. How has DG achieved industry leadership in security, lighting, and climate control technologies?
What do you think is the fundamental difference between high-end showcases and ordinary showcases? Is it materials, design, or understanding the brand’s soul?
We are often asked what truly distinguishes high-end showcases from ordinary ones. Materials and design matter, but the core difference lies in understanding the brand’s soul.
Ordinary showcases are simply tools to “hold products,” using common materials and generic designs, focusing on low cost. High-end showcases, on the other hand, are the brand’s “silent ambassadors.” They must interpret the brand’s DNA, culture, and tone, using materials (imported ultra-clear glass, piano lacquer, brushed brass), design (proportion, lighting, spatial flow), and details (lighting enhancing gemstones, micro-environment for artifact protection) to amplify the brand’s value.
Materials can be imitated, and design can be copied, but a deep understanding of a brand and a relentless pursuit of perfection cannot. This is why many international luxury brands ultimately choose us—they are not just looking for a showcase, but a way to tell their brand story.
As a representative of Chinese manufacturing, how does DG compete with established European display case brands on the international stage?
Many people assume that Chinese manufacturing relies mainly on scale or cost. In reality, the true competitive edge lies in “quality + service + functionality and experience + China speed.”
