What steps do you need to go through to make a museum display cabinet?

While crafting high-end museum display cases, our focus is always on choosing quality materials, adhering to clients'needs, and delivering innovative designs!

Museum display cases allow museum staff to showcase history, art, and wonder in a unique and interactive way. Your facility's success depends on how you choose to display your artifacts and how wisely you choose your display pieces.

In this article, we will explore how high-end showcase brands craft museum display pieces and what steps they take. So, let's dive into the world of showcase manufacturing!

The Art of Crafting Museum Display Cases:

Like most high-end brands, we focus on delivering the best quality product to our customers. Here is how we create luxury custom showcases for jewelry brands, collectors, showrooms, and museums.

1.Consultancy:

Consulting with the client is the first step we take while making museum display cases. We acknowledge that every client is different and their needs vary. Therefore, sitting down with the museum manager or designer to identify their requirements, their exhibition needs, etc is the first thing we do.

In our brief meeting, we try to listen to the client's objectives and goals and make a rough sketch of our final design.

2.Concept and Design:

This is where we do all the fun. From material selection to actual designing, the beef of showcase manufacturing lies here.

Although we have tons of pre-designed products, we love creating new designs and bringing new ideas to life. We start our designing process by selecting the materials!

Material selection:

You need to consider a lot of factors while creating displays that will hold sensitive items. Many historical artifacts are sensitive to light and other environmental elements. Historical documents are also very fragile and require an extra level of protection. Therefore, we choose our materials very carefully–keeping the safety and conservation of your valuable pieces in mind.

Here are some materials we generally work with:

Stainless steel, aluminum, and powder-coated steel for the body

MDF, Wood Veneer, and plywood for the structure

Leather for cushioning

Glass or acrylic for case covering

But why do we choose these materials?

Stainless steel, for instance, is our top choice for making display case bodies because it is non-inflammable, strong, and doesn't harm sensitive pieces. Apart from that, stainless steel is also highly durable and resists corrosion.

If your cabinet will be used in a humid environment, it should have a stainless body to withstand wear, tear, and corrosion.

We also avoid using chipboards or particle boards because they often release peroxides that can react with sensitive metals. MDF, an engineered wood product made from the residuals of hardwood or softwood is our alternative choice. The reason for preferring MDF over plywood and chipboard is simple. MDF contains a higher level of adhesives and is denser than plywood. This material is also nonbiodegradable with zero carbon offset value.

While glass can be an excellent choice for making case coverings as it is scratch-resistant and provides ultimate protection to your items, we tend to avoid using it because it can make the case heavy.

However, if our client demands a premium product, we use tempered glass as it is less susceptible to temperature changes and condensation. It is also an eco-friendly option as it consumes less raw materials during the production process than traditional glass.

Arcylic is another good option for making case coverings as it is extremely cost-effective, lightweight, UV-light resistant, and dust-proof. When we use acrylic to cover our cases, they naturally become very easy to move. Not only that, acrylic is also known to provide optimal optical clarity, making items shine through the invisible barrier.

Acrylic is also very easy to clean and maintain compared to traditional glass. A sheer wipe with mild soap and lukewarm water will leave the surface sparkling.

Lastly, we use leather to cushion our products because it is the oldest-known recycled material and has incredible climate-balancing and hygiene effects.

Designing:

Once we are done with the material selection, we head to the design process. Here is how we go about designing top-notch museum display cases:

We prepare a sketch or a rough drawing of the final design based on the client's instructions.

Our team sits down to communicate the layout and the type of display case.

We start 3D rendering and get the client's feedback.

Our team makes modifications to the 3D rendering according to the feedback.

We finalize the idea and start manufacturing.

3.Delivery:

Our services continue beyond manufacturing and selling. We take utmost care of your products until they are safely delivered. We conduct factory-direct sales. This means we ship museum showcases directly from the factory where they are manufactured.

Since we manufacture premium-quality display cases, we ship them to the customers with utmost care. Our delivery routes include:

By sea

By air

By railway

We also pay meticulous attention to the packaging. You will receive your display case wrapped in a cotton bubble pack, protected with corner papers, and enclosed in a paper-wood box.

Not only that, we also provide after-sales services, so you receive all the needed assistance even after closing the deal. Along with the display case, we also provide all the necessary installation instructions.
